Forty years ago, hundreds of thousands of young people descended on Sullivan County, NY to celebrate three days of peace, love and music.
Woodstock was an unexpected event that generated an unexpected impact on American culture, politics and civil rights.
To celebrate that event, the Poughkeepsie Journal has partnered with Footnote.com so you can review newly digitized newspaper pages, photographs, documents and video from that era.
